Get an API token

A connection token (kc_pat_…) is the bearer a local CLI / IDE agent uses to call the API as you. Issue it in the account console; it is shown once.

Issue

  1. Sign in at kotoba.cloud/account with a passkey or a wallet.
  2. Open “Use from a CLI / IDE” and press “Issue a connection token”.
  3. Put the value in your environment (the console's Copy buttons also give you the export lines).
Shell
export KOTOBA_API_BASE="https://api.kotoba.cloud" # Anthropic-protocol tools
export OPENAI_BASE_URL="https://api.kotoba.cloud/v1" # OpenAI-protocol tools
export KOTOBA_API_TOKEN="kc_pat_<your-token>"

curl -s https://api.kotoba.cloud/v1/models -H "Authorization: Bearer $KOTOBA_API_TOKEN"

What the token can and cannot do

Revocation rotates the signing key and invalidates every issued token: support@kotoba.cloud. Never put a token in a log or a repository.
